Ang Mo Kio New Town, Singapore’s seventh satellite town, was completed in 1980. It was built on an elongated valley previously occupied by squatters. It was the first to pioneer the street numbering system, in which streets with odd numbers in an east-west direction begin in the south, while streets with even numbers in a north-south direction begin in the west.
The site’s design won the Singapore Institute of Architects’ (SIA) Outstanding Building Award in 1983, and the swimming complex at 1 Ang Mo Kio Avenue won the SIA Architectural Award in 1986.
In Ang Mo Kio, there is a mix of old and new HDB apartments, with the older ones constructed in the traditional style, with 12-storey apartment blocks connected by a common corridor and featuring 25 floors with four units per floor. The area’s new HDB apartments are unusual.
The total number of apartments is small compared to less developed cities, and the introduction of the 2,000 BTO units, in particular, has gone extremely well. The design of BLK 259, Ang mo Kio Ave 2, a Singapore Circular Housing Board block, is unusual (HDB).

Upcoming Condo in Ang Mo Kio Ave 1
Our first condominium is located only 200 meters from the Bishan MRT station, part of the East Organization’s “Bishan 8” project completed in 2000. Ang Ko Kio Avenue 1 Condo will be completed in the third quarter of 2021 and is located 400 meters from the Mayflower MRT station. It is adjacent to the Kebun Baru public housing estate and the rural development Shangri-La Park.
The distance between Ang Mo Kio’s MRT stations is shortened by BTO Flats, which is significantly closer to the upcoming Mayflower / Bright Hill MRT station, which will serve the Thomson East Coast Line (TEL) beginning in 2020.
Along with the MRT, the Yio Chu Kang MRT Station (AMK-IANS) will benefit from improved connectivity to Thomson’s East Coast MRT Line, which is scheduled to open in 2020 and will include two new stations, Mayflower and Lentor.
The Ang Mo Kio station is located in the district’s central business district and is served by the north-south line. Four shopping centers cater to the daily needs of Ang Mo Kio tenants, including training centers, gyms, restaurants, and a variety of other services.
AMK Hub is a suburban shopping mall located in the city center. It is connected to the city via an underpass that connects to the station and MRT line Ang mo Kio.
Condos near to Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 Condo
Bishan is being considered for three condominium developments, one near the Bishan MRT station and two near the Marymount MRT station. The condominiums in Bishans # 8 are distinguished by their proximity to the MRT station and the fact that most amenities are within walking distance.
Condominiums in Bedok, Changi, Pasir Ris, Tampines, Ang Mo Kio Woodlands, Yishun, Clementi, Jurong, and Punggol are prohibitively expensive to purchase monthly rentals ranging between S $3,300 and $5,000.
A private three-bedroom apartment in the central business district costs between S $5000 and S $7,000 per month, while those on the outskirts rent for S $4,000. If you are on a tight budget, government apartments (also known as HDB apartments) are an affordable option, as more than 80% of Singaporeans live in HDB units.
With a budget of less than S $15,000, you can afford a condominium in the Central District and send your children to international schools without relying on taxis. Ang Mo Kio, which is located near the majority of food centers and shopping malls, is redefining what it means to live when new condominiums are rented out.
Additionally, the area provides diverse educational opportunities, including special education schools such as Chaoyang School and Pathlight School.

You will most likely have views of Bishan, Ang Mo Kio Park, and the Kallang River, but a review of the URA Master Plan reveals no future residential developments that would obstruct the immediate surroundings.
Future developments, we believe, should include unobstructed views of both Bishans and the park from the south. The area’s final condo by Ang Mo Kio is in high demand (Thomson Impressions Panorama, Thomson Impressives Panorama 2014, 2013).
Ang Mo Kio (literally “bridge” in Hokkien) is a Caucasian district in northeastern Singapore. It means “red-haired man bridge” in Hokkaido, and “ang mo” is a colloquial term for Caucasian.
